#17 fixed Stale status view in Startstop somebody stefan

On a 64 bit ubuntu linux system, if I hit enter I see:

   Press return to print Earthworm status, or
   type restart nnn where nnn is proc id or name to restart, or

#18 wontfix Version of QuakeID within message TYPE_STRONGMOTIONII somebody quintiliani
Description

Add the field "version of an event ID" to the messagge TYPE_STRONGMOTIONII. gmew is not yet able to distinguish the status of an earthquake localization (i.e. eqPrelim, eqRapid, eqFinal). Then, the output for different versions of the same quake ID are usually overwritten, and this is not good.

Since function read_hyp() is able to read the version of an event from the ARC message, gmew could be able to catch the "version" from the "struct Hsum" and put it into the strongmotionII message. This would imply a change of the format of the message TYPE_STRONGMOTIONII or create a new type, TYPE_STRONGMOTIONIII?

Supposing that all modules that read this message use the library function rd_strongmotionII(), this change should be transparent for them. Actually, we could also consider optional the field "version", providing in some way a backward compatibility. For example, adding a parameter for gmew that allows it to write or not the field "VERSION".

An example of message TYPE_STRONGMOTIONII is:

SCNL: SGTA.HHZ.IV.
TIME: 2009/09/09 01:35:23.899
ALT: 0000/00/00 00:00:00.000 CODE: 0
PGA: 0.005107 TPGA: 2009/09/09 01:35:24.249
PGV: 0.000058 TPGV: 2009/09/09 01:35:24.239
PGD: 0.000015 TPGD: 2009/09/09 01:35:23.899
RSA: 3/0.30 0.000904/1.00 0.000444/3.00 0.000060
QID: 62727 014101073:029111073

The proposal is adding to the message an optional line like:
VERSION: 1

I looked into the code in order to figure out a possible development. Particularly, the changes should concern the following sources:

  • earthworm/include/rw_strongmotionII.h

Within struct SM_INFO add a field "version".

  • earthworm/src/libsrc/util/rw_strongmotionII.c

int rd_strongmotionII( char msgP, SM_INFO *sm, int logErr);

Read "VERSION:" from the message STRONGMOTIONII and set the value into the field "version" within the structure SM_INFO

int wr_strongmotionII( SM_INFO *sm, char *buf, int buflen );

Read "version" from the structure SM_INFO and write the line as suggested above.

  • earthworm/src/seismic_processing/gmew/gm.h

Within struct EVENT add a field "version"

  • earthworm/src/seismic_processing/gmew/gm_util.c

Within the function getPeakGM() add a line like as:

pSms->version = pEvt->version

Within the function procArc() add a line like as:

sprintf(pEvt->version, "%lu", Sum.version)

  • earthworm/src/seismic_processing/gmew/gm_config.[hc]

Add and manage the field into the structure GMPARAMS to enable or not, the writing of VERSION into the TYPE_STRONGMOTIONII message.

I'm looking forward to receiving your feedbacks.
